Exploring Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Our district is exploring adding a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) option to complement our existing Developmental Kindergarten (DK) program.
Both programs serve kindergarten-eligible students and transition into traditional kindergarten the following year. However, they are designed to meet different readiness needs.
DK and TK provide families with pathways that meet students where they are and support a strong start to their kindergarten experience.
We're Gauging Interest in Transitional Kindergarten
We are seeking input from:
- Families of current 4-year-old preschool students
- Families of other 4-year-olds in our community who would be kindergarten-eligible in the fall (turning 5 on or before September 15)
Families interested in considering this option for their child are asked to complete a short interest form by March 13, 2026.
Completing the form does not guarantee placement or enrollment. The survey will help the district better understand interest levels and determine next steps.
Understanding the Difference: DK and TK
While both programs prepare students for kindergarten the following year, below is a comparison to help families better understand each program.
